Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy. When we break down the word:

  • Rei refers to the universal, transcendental spirit or essence.

  • Ki is the vital life force that flows through all living things, similar to Chi in Chinese medicine or Prana in Sanskrit.

Reiki is the creative intelligence that keeps us breathing, allows our bodies to heal, and supports all life on Earth.

At its core, Reiki is unconditional love, a gentle, non-invasive healing modality that restores harmony and balance across the mind, body, and spirit.

What is Reiki?

A Tool for Healing & Spiritual Growth

Reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui as a practice for deep spiritual growth.
Interestingly, the physical healing that often follows Reiki is not the primary goal, but rather a natural side effect of increased self-awareness and inner alignment.

Today, Reiki is used to support healing on all levels:

  • Physical - supports relaxation, reduces pain & tension

  • Mental - soothes overactive thoughts & stress

  • Emotional - releases stored emotional pain

  • Spiritual - awakens intuition, authentic self and wholeness

  • Energetic - balances chakras & energy flow

Reiki encourages gentle integration, release, and rebalancing, helping stuck or unprocessed emotions and energy to move and harmonize. It supports the body’s natural healing intelligence, inviting a return to wholeness.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki is typically offered through light touch or with hands held just above the body, following a sequence of positions often aligned with the chakra system. This gentle, non-invasive practice supports the body’s natural healing processes, encouraging balance across physical, emotional, mental and energetic levels.

From a scientific perspective, Reiki helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s “rest and digest” state - where true healing can unfold.

Reiki can also be sent remotely. Because energy isn’t bound by time or space, distance Reiki is just as effective as in-person sessions, allowing healing to flow wherever it’s needed. Distance sessions can take place via Zoom, so you can receive in the comfort of your own home.

MindBody Syndrome (TMS) healing

A MindBody Syndrome Practitioner (MBSP) is a professional trained to address and treat medically unexplained chronic symptoms through a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection.

TMS stands for Tension Myositis Syndrome (sometimes called The Mindbody Syndrome).

It was first described by Dr. John Sarno, who noticed that many cases of chronic pain (like back pain, neck pain, headaches, or other persistent symptoms) weren’t caused by structural damage, but by the nervous system being stuck in a state of tension and stress.

MBSP Practitioners specialize in these psychosomatic conditions, recognizing how emotional processes can manifest as physical ailments. MBSPs use a range of techniques rooted in pain neuroscience and neuroplasticity to help clients rewire their thought patterns and behaviors, eliminating triggers for symptoms like pain and anxiety.

They also teach relaxation, visualization, and mindfulness practices to empower clients in managing stress and improving overall well-being.

MBSPs play a vital role in helping individuals regain control over their health by addressing the underlying emotional factors contributing to their physical symptoms.
